Junior State Championships

Junior State Championships (JSC)

This is the pinnacle Junior Event in Victoria, with teams competing across the Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 Boys & Girls divisions. The event has been running for well over ten years in its current format and is a highlight in the Victorian Hockey calendar each year. The Sunraysia Hockey Association alongside Hockey Central, Kerang, North Central, Wimmera & Goulburn Valley make up the representative side of North West Lightning.

BENDIGO will host the following:

• Under 14 & Under 16 Boys – Friday 5^th July to Sunday 7^th July, 2024

• Under 18 Boys & Girls – Saturday 21^st September to Monday 23^rd September

SHEPPARTON will host the following:

• Under 14 & Under 16 Girls – Friday 5^th July to Sunday 7^th July, 2024

• Under 12 Boys & Girls Hockey 5s – Wednesday 3^rd July to Thursday 4^th July, 2024

North West Lightning Academy 2024

Following the success of previous years’ North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2024 hockey season. The program is designed to increase a player’s skill base, game knowledge, meet other players in their association and zone and to kickstart season 2024. We believe the Academy offers a great opportunity for players to get to know one another before the JSC trials in April.

The five-week program is run at satellite venues across the North West Lightning zone and includes two game days where all players meet to play a variety of games within their age groups. Players will be exposed to all coaches at the game days, enabling them to learn from a wealth of experience. To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 12 participants is required at each satellite venue.

Key Information

• Open to players born in 2006 – 2013

• Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola, Echuca, Mildura, St Arnaud and Shepparton

• Training on Sundays from 10am – 12pm (Wed evening for Mildura)

• 5-week program including 2 match days

• Training dates: February 4^th, 11^th, March 4^th

• Game dates: February 25^th and March 17^h in Bendigo from 11am – 2pm

• Cost: $100 (HV have generously sponsored this program)

• Family discount of $10 for second and successive children

• Training shirt included but any previous members not requiring a shirt can reduce the cost by $50
